Partial
plate dentures are a dental appliance that replaces one or several
teeth that are be missing. They are easily removable and are held
in place by clasps that attach to the other remaining teeth. These
dentures are beneficial to people who have problems eating or speaking
properly because they have lost a number of teeth. They are also
a boon for people who would like to improve their appearance.
Partial plate
dentures are usually made from three materials: metal, acrylic and
porcelain. In general, the gum areas of the dentures are made from
pink acrylic, the teeth are made from porcelain or acrylic, and
the base is made from metal for maximum durability. The artificial
teeth in partial dentures are custom-made to resemble your remaining
teeth in color, size and shape. This makes the dental appliance
almost impossible for others to detect.
There are no real
drawbacks to partial dentures, provided that they are properly cared
for. It's important that you brush the entire denture, not just
the teeth when you clean them. Remember that your dentures can lose
their shape if they are left to dry out. If they are not in your
mouth, make sure you keep them in ordinary water or a soaking solution.
Never put your dentures in hot water or bleach. Don't forget that
your dentures are breakable so handle them carefully when cleaning
them.
